Inspiring Story of Pete Cashmore and Mashable

Pete Cashmore is one of the fortunate people in the world to have tasted success at a very young age. Having  founded Mashable at a mere age of 19, today this site has more than 20 Million unique visitors a month and 6 million social media followers. Whoa !

This teenager wanted to be an Entrepreneur by profession, his passion for sharing how Web Tools and Social networks were transforming human interactions and reshaping cultures drove him to create Mashable. His updates on the latest news related to the online world and social media network continued to push Mashable  to evolve from a Tech Blog to a Global Media Company build around technology.

Mashable  was founded by Pete Cashmore in 2005 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Today, it is a leading media company for the connected generation and the voice of digital culture.

What makes a site successful is its uniqueness and quickness and that’s what Mashable is known for. Being the first one to cover all the aspect related to social media and technology, Mashable is highly famous attracting millions of crowd. Currently Mashable holds the Alexa Rank of 258 with its Headquarters in New York. No wonder Pete was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People just at age of 26.

Whats amusing is that an unfortunate incident in Pete’s life turned out to be a huge turning point of his life. He underwent surgery of Vermiform Appendix at the age of 13 and was required to skip school for complete rest. This was the crucial time when he learned everything related to Blogging and started strategizing his plan. In 2005 he executed his plan by founding Mashable and primarily focused on social media and technology initially. After getting considerate response from home ground,Pete now wanted to target the American crowd along with the British people.

Technology was developing faster in America and in order to cover all that news Pete rescheduled his working hours with that of America. This indeed meant that he needed to sacrifice his night’s sleep. He started writing and posting at night and slept few hours in the morning. Pete hasn’t slept at night for months!

Success does come with hardship and sacrifice. Pete’s regular perseverance and his sleepless nights won his site tremendous popularity in just 18 months. Mashable was read by 2 million people a month. Strangely his parents were unaware of his work and he told them only after his first success. What makes him successful is the question that he keeps asking himself: “Have I beaten yesterday”. If his today is better than yesterday it means there is improvement.

If its hard to get on to the top position, its even harder to maintain that position. One needs to constantly keep performing even better and this is impossible without a team. Mashable is now a team of 120 people making incredible contribution.

Pete Cashmore is an inspiration for all those who wanna make it big. All you need is a dream and the guts to turn it into a reality!!!
